**I want to start this by saying that there are absolutely no rules when it comes to which style of dress you should choose based on your body type. We advise you always to choose the dress that
you FEEL the most beautiful and confident in, no matter what.
If you don’t know where to start when shopping for your dress, here are the 4 most common wedding dress silhouettes that typically flatter each body type.
1. A-line
This style of dress flatters all body types. A-lines create a slimmed & elongated effect on plus size brides, and create curves on small framed brides. A-Lines are fitted on the bodice, accentuate the waist, and have a
skirt. It’s a great style to start with when you are first trying on dresses.
2. Fit & Flare
This style is most flattering on hourglass and triangle (or pear) shaped body types because it accentuates and balances curves. Fit & Flares are fitted throughout the bodice, waist, & hips and start to flare out around the lower thigh.
3. Sheath
This style is most flattering on curvy, hourglass, and small framed body types. The sheath dress is especially flattering for curves because it hugs your body and falls straight to the floor, elongating your figure.
4. Ball Gown
This silhouette is most flattering on rectangle, curvy, and small framed body types. Ball Gowns hug your bust and natural waist, and poof out dramatically on the skirt, giving an hourglass effect to body types that don’t naturally have this, and drawing more attention to the skirt versus the hips on more curvy body types.
Every body type is different and every body type is beautiful. Ultimately, the best kind of wedding dress to choose is the one that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and 100% yourself in.
